Crash kills one

A single-vehicle crash at approximately 1:25 a.m. Feb. 27 has claimed the life of a Russellville man, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Jamie D. Huggins, 45, was fatally injured when his 2003 Ford F150 he was driving left the roadway, struck a bridge rail and overturned into a creek, where it became submerged in water.  

Huggins, who was not using his seat belt, was ejected. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

The crash occurred on Highway 44 near the Highway 24, approximately three miles south of Russellville.  

Nothing further is available as state troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
