Book Lovers plan fourth annual wellness walk
The GFWC Book Lovers Study Club will hold its Fourth Annual Walk to Wellness Breast Cancer Awareness and Fundraiser Walk Dec. 1-12.
With COVID-19 and its variants still lingering, the walk will be held virtually. Participants will walk on their own or in small groups and post their pictures on the Book Lovers Walk to Wellness Facebook page.
Registration is $20, which includes a T-shirt for the first 75 to register. The T-shirts can be picked up at the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Nov. 30 from 1-3:30 p.m.
The walk will benefit women on their journey to wellness. This fundraiser has allowed the Book Lovers Study Club to donate more than $2,400 to the Russellville Hospital Cancer Fund and cancer survivors.
The November meeting was held at the Russellville First United Methodist Church. Serving as co-hostesses were Ponda Gordon and Gayle McAlister.
Nina McNatt, president, shared some upcoming events scheduled in the community during the holidays, including Every Light a Prayer for Peace and the Christmas Tree Lighting, Dec. 2; the Russellville Christmas Parade, Dec. 2; Chamber of Commerce Holly Days at the A.W. Todd Centre, Dec. 4; A Christmas Moment choir, Dec. 5; RHS band concert, Dec. 7; The Roxy’s Christmas Spectacular, Dec. 9-12; and the RHS Ensemble performance, Dec. 12.
Club members voted to make a $500 donation to the Russellville Hospital for its Breast Cancer Fund and to assist patients seeking recovery from breast cancer.
Members also decided to donate $150 to the Russellville Hospital Foundation in lieu of sponsoring a Christmas tree for its Christmas at City Lake fundraiser.
