Multiple scoring threats spark Bobcat boys to wins

The Phil Campbell Bobcats’ run-and-gun style of play has led to multiple scoring threats early in the season, sparking the Bobcats to a 3-1 start.

The Bobcats have had at least three double digit scorers in their three early wins. Bryant Hyde is emerging as the teams go-to scorer, leading the way in three of those games.

Phil Campbell opened the season easily beating Vina 89-17. Canaan Clay led the Bobcats’ four double-digit scorers with 19 points. Cam Habada added 12 points, followed by Kyle Pace with 12 points and Hyde with 10 points. Sage Raper added eight points, Quentin Hyde had six points, Blain Goodson had five points, John Randle Herring had five points, and Seth Hutcheson got four points.

Phil Campbell beat Phillips 75-60. Phillips led the Bobcats 18-17 at the end of the first quarter, but Phil Campbell outscored the Bears 20-14 in the second quarter to take a 37-32 halftime lead.

The Bobcats put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Bears 21-8 to take a 58-40 lead into the final period of play.

Hyde led Phil Campbell with 19 points. Kyle Pace added 15 points, and Clay had 14 points. Habada and Goodson added 11 points each.

Phil Campbell beat Sulligent 59-47. Again, Hyde led the Bobcats with 15 points followed by Habada with 12 points and Kyle Pace with 10 points.

Phil Campbell lost to Belmont, Mississippi 63-48.

GIRLS

Phil Campbell 52, Ardmore 48

After dropping a couple of games earlier in the week, the Phil Campbell girls got their first win in the opening game of the Clements Thanksgiving Tournament, beating Ardmore 52-48.

The Bobcats did much of their damage at the freethrow line. Faith Cook was 12 for 14 from the stripe.  Madison Branch was 12 for 16, and Kenner Scott was four for four.

Phil Campbell led Ardmore 14-8 at the end of the first quarter and 24-18 at halftime. The Bobcats extended their lead to 41-29 at the end of the third quarter.

Ardmore closed the gap in the fourth quarter, outscoring Phil Campbell 19-11.

Cook led the Bobcats with 19 points, followed by Branch with 16 points. Scott finished the game with six points, and Allie Herring tallied five. Jade Roberson, Hannah Welborn and Kaley Motes scored two points each.

Phil Campbell lost to Sulligent 47-45. Scott led Phil Campbell with 20 points, followed by Branch with 14 points.
