Veterans Day parade honors local heroes
American Legion Post 64 will host its annual Veterans Day Parade Nov. 7.
The parade will begin at 2 p.m. Veterans who wish walk or ride in the parade will start gathering a little after 1 p.m. at the A.W. Todd Centre in downtown Russellville.
The Russellville High School Marching Hundred will perform in the parade. Antique cars will be an option for veterans who wish to ride in the parade. Junior ROTC high school students will be participating as well.
“We appreciate the veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice so we can have the freedoms we have today,” said Probate Judge Barry Moore, a member of the American Legion as well as Veterans of Foreign Wars.
“We hope the community will come out and recognize our veterans,” added Grant Atkins. “We’re pleased to be able to resume the parade after having to skip it last year due to COVID-19 precautions. The veterans all enjoy the parade a lot, and the community has always been very supportive.”
