A Look Ahead: Football faces week six action
PCHS (3-2) at Colbert Heights (3-3)
The Phil Campbell Bobcats will try to shake off a tough homecoming loss to Haleyville as they travel to Colbert Heights to take on the Wildcats. Phil Campbell is 14-13 all time versus Colbert Heights and won this game this past year 34-30. Colbert Heights lost this past week to Class 2A Colbert County, 25-0. Their previous region wins were to Elkmont, 37-0, and Clements 20-12. Phil Campbell beat Elkmont 55-8 and Clements 37-14.
RBHS (1-3) at Sheffield (2-4)
Red Bay will also try to shake off a loss, as the Tigers fell to Belmont this past week. They travel to Sheffield this week. This game is critical to keep Red Bay’s play–off streak alive; a loss will put those hopes in danger, with games left against Hatton, Mars Hill and Colbert County.
Red Bay is 7-4 in this series and won this past year 40-20. The Bulldogs lost their past three region games – to Mars Hill 37-0, Colbert County 40-6 and Lexington 32-14. Red Bay beat Lexington 34-6.
RHS (5-1) hosts Ardmore (5-0)
The Golden Tigers have been on a roll this season – until they ran into the Tigers from Hartselle. Russellville was undefeated but lost handily to Hartselle 58-21.
The Golden Tigers will face another undefeated team this week in Ardmore. Unlike Hartselle, however, Ardmore doesn’t look as formidable at 5-0 as the Tigers did. Ardmore beat Brewer 34-14 and Lawrence County 27-7, while Russellville beat those teams 52-0 and 43-0, respectively.
THS — OPEN
Tharptown is off this week and will return to action next week, hosting Sheffield.
VHS (0-5) at R.A. Hubbard (3-2)
Vina will travel to R.A. Hubbard this week to take on the Chiefs. Hubbard is 3-2, having won the past three region games over Cherokee 58-8, Hackleburg 20-8 and Phillips 18-6. The Chiefs won this game this past year 49-0.
