Extension names Red, White, Green contest winners

The following are winners of the Franklin County Extension’s Watermelon Festival Contests for 2021, on the theme of Red, White and Green.

CUTEST BABY/CHILD PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

Baby, 0-12 months

  • First place: Regan Marie Matthews, Tuscumbia

Toddler, 1-3 years

  • First place: Willa Marie Hood, Russellville
  • Second place: Oxen Young, Brilliant
  • Third place: Zoie Grace Ergle, Phil Campbell
  • Third place: Cameron Fluker, Russellville

ICED TEA CONTEST

Sweetened

  • First place: Peggy Martin, Leighton                                           
  • Second place: Sheree Martin, Birmingham

Flavored

  • First place: Jenny Harris, Phil Campbell
  • Second place: Sheree Martin, Birmingham
  • Third place: Peggy Martin, Leighton

COLORING CONTEST

Community Spirit Bank provided awards for the coloring contest winners and winning classroom teachers.

Kindergarten through Third Grade

  • First place: Brayden Hancock, Tharptown Elementary
  • Second place: Kenzie Jefferys, Belgreen Elementary
  • Third place: Bella Newell, Red Bay Elementary
  • Winning classroom teacher: Baylee King, Tharptown Elementary

Fourth through Sixth Grade

  • First place: Allie Potter, Phil Campbell Elementary
  • Second place: McKenna McKelroy, Red Bay Elementary
  • Third place: Gia Himes, East Franklin Junior High
