Phil Campbell hosts first-ever volleyball event

The Phil Campbell Bobcats hosted their first-ever volleyball event this past week. Despite losing to Clements and East Lawrence, Coach Amy Moss said she was pleased with the show of support from the school and the community.

“Our girls are getting so close,” said Moss. “They fed off the energy and support of the crowd. We appreciated the support of the community so much, and we had great support from our students as well.”

The Phil Campbell girls led Clements in the first set but let it get away from them before losing the last set and two straight to East Lawrence.

“We keep making progress,” said Moss. “We just have to stay confident and keep working hard, and good things will happen.”

In other action on the court, Red Bay beat Sheffield in three straight sets, 25-19, 26-16, and 25-10.

Gracie Weatherford and Madeline Ledbetter led the team in aces with seven and six respectively. Ledbetter also added nine kills, and Kaylie Lindley had five kills. Talli Hamilton had 16 assists.
