Bobcats sign for athletic futures

Two Bobcat baseballers make their college plans official, signing on the dotted line to continue their diamond dreams with athletic scholarships. In July, utility player Austen Baker (right) accepted an offer from Calhoun Community College, and teammate middle infielder Luke Barnwell (left) accepted an offer from Bevill State Community College. The two, seniors on the state championship-winning 2021 team, formalized those decisions with a joint celebratory signing Sunday – surrounded by family, friends, teammates, coaches, school personnel and Bobcat fans.

“Honestly, it is a dream come true for me to keep playing the game I love,” said Baker previously. “I am very blessed to have the opportunity to play again and get my education.” Barnwell shared similar sentiments. “I am excited for the opportunity to be able to play at the next level. It means a lot to me … I am excited and ready to get to work.”
