PC goes unchallenged in area doubleheader

The Phil Campbell Bobcats improved their record to 28-3 this past week, going unchallenged in two area games against Vinemont and a regular season contest against Dora.

Phil Campbell beat Vinemont 14-1 and 10-0 midweek and beat Dora 19-2 and 11-1 in a doubleheader Saturday.

Mason Swinney homered twice at the plate and struck out 11 on the mound in the 14-1 win over Vinemont.  Swinney’s home runs came on a solo shot in the second inning followed by a two-run homer by Ridge Raper.  Swinney went deep again in the sixth on a two-run homer to centerfield.

Raper also doubled in the game. He knocked in three runs and scored three times, as well.

Luke Barnwell had two hits and scored three times. Austen Baker and Trey Leindecker also doubled in the game and had two RBIs each.

In game two of the series, Raper threw a complete game, two-hit shutout and struck out 13 batters, leading the Bobcats to the 10-0 win.

Phil Campbell got a twohit game from John Miller Lawson, who hit a two-run home run. Swinney also had a two-hit game with a double and two RBIs. Barnwell and Bryant Anthony also doubled in the game.

In game one of the doubleheader against Dora, Baker and Anthony each hit a home run and doubled. Baker went four-for-five with five RBIs and scored three runs, and he had a two-run double in the first and a two-run homer in the seventh. Anthony’s two-run homer came in the seventh inning, as well.

Swinney scored four times in the game. Barnwell, Levi Crittenden and Kyle Pace all doubled as well.

In game two, Brett Saint and Baker combined to limit the Bulldogs to three hits and one run. Swinney hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning to tie the game at 1-1. That sparked a seven-run inning for the Bobcats.

Anthony and Raper doubled in the game. Barnwell had three RBIs.
