Belgreen girls sweep Vina in area match

The Belgreen Bulldogs swept the Vina Red Devils in an area matchup this past week. Belgreen beat Vina 19-4 and 18-3 in back-to-back games.

In the first game between the two county rivals, Belgreen won 19-4. The Bulldogs scored three runs in the first inning and quickly put the game away in the second inning, scoring 11 more.

The Bulldogs got big games out Noelle Willingham, Lily Blackburn, Morgan Vandiver and Emma Dempsey.

Willingham had a triple, four RBIs, and she scored three runs in the game. Blackburn had two doubles, four RBIs, and she scored two runs. Vandiver had a single and a double and two RBIs and scored two runs.  Dempsey had a single and a triple and scored four runs.

Dempsey was hot from the circle, allowing no earned runs and striking out four batters in three innings.

Belgreen won the second game 18-3. The Bulldogs led 4-3 after the first inning but scored 14 runs over the next two innings to win easily.

Vina committed seven errors, helping the Bulldogs to the win.

Blackburn had two hits, two RBIs, and she scored three times.

Earlier in the week, Belgreen shut out Addison 3-0.

Madison Vandiver doubled in Dempsey in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.  Vandiver came around to score on a bases loaded walk.

Dempsey pitched three innings and allowed one hit and struck out five.
