Bobcats boast strong week of baseball at beach

The Phil Campbell Bobcats took to the beach during spring break, but it wasn’t all fun and sun and ocean waves – it was baseball, too.

Phil Campbell went 3-2 this past week, beating Scottsboro 11-1, Lindsey Lane 11-0 and Enterprise 10-4 while taking losses to Decatur 6-4 and Smiths Station 3-1.

DECATUR 6, PHIL CAMPBELL 4

Decatur took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Bobcats took the lead in the bottom half of the inning when Luke Barnwell scored on fielder’s choice and Ridge Raper singled in Mason Swinney.

Phil Campbell extended the lead to 4-1 in the third inning when Austen Baker scored on a John Miller Lawson sacrifice fly and Raper scored on a Trey Leindecker single.

Decatur tied the game in the top of the sixth on back-to-back run scoring doubles. The Red Raiders took the lead for good in the top of the seventh to get the win.

PHIL CAMPBELL 11, SCOTTSBORO 1

PHIL CAMPBELL 10, ENTERPRISE 4
