PC seeks new chief following resignation

The Town of Phil Campbell is looking to hire a new police chief following the resignation of former police chief Joe Fike.

Fike, who had been working with Phil Campbell department since June 2017, turned his resignation in effective March 11. Fike declined to comment on the resignation.

City Clerk Virginia Burk said after the council accepted Fike’s resignation at a Phil Campbell city council meeting, Jessica Clements was named as interim police chief.

Clements, who was the only full-time officer aside from Fike, is currently on maternity leave.

Officers from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office who also work part time for Phil Campbell are patrolling extra shifts.

The town is accepting applications for a new police chief and expects to make a decision in the next three weeks.
