Tiger girls pound Colbert County

The Red Bay Lady Tigers took advantage of some porous defense by the Colbert County Indians to win 15-4 this past week.

Both teams hit the ball well, pounding out 10 hits each, but Colbert County committed nine fielding errors, and Red Bay took advantage of almost all of them to get the easy win.

The Tigers got on the board first when Annaliese Rogers scored on an error by the pitcher.

In the top of the second inning, Rogers doubled in Hannah Butler to give Red Bay a 2-0 lead. After Chloe Knoblock was hit by a pitch advancing to first base, Rogers scored on a passed ball to increase the Tigers’ lead to 3-0.

Lila Blackburn followed up with a two-run shot over the centerfield fence to give Red Bay a 5-0 advantage.

Red Bay put the game away in the third inning on a two-run single by Rogers scoring Jazmyn Pearson and Audry Ehler.

The Tigers would go on to add three more in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth.

Georgia Inman had a big game at the plate with four hits, including a double, and three RBIs.

Rogers had two hits, including a double, and four RBIs and scored four runs. Knoblock scored three runs.  Sarah Eaton had a double and two RBIs.

Blackburn pitched six innings and had 11 strikeouts.
