Tharptown softball blows out Phillips 20-3
The Tharptown Wildcats stroked 22 hits in a 20-3 blowout win over the Phillips Bears.
The Wildcats scored five runs in the first inning, starting with a single by Harliegh Borden scoring Kyndall Morgan.
Borden came around to score on a single by Taylor Cameron to give Tharptown a 2-0 lead.
Cameron scored on a single by Courtney Smith to make the score 3-0, and Savannah Romans hit a hard single to center field, scoring Leslie Staggs and Destin Martin, to extend the Wildcats’ lead to 5-0.
Phillips cut Tharptown’s lead to 5-2 in the bottom half of the inning.
The Wildcats blew the lid off the game in the top of the second inning, scoring nine runs. Borden, Staggs, Martin, Romans and Braisley Barbosa all came around to score a run apiece. Cameron scored twice.
The Wildcats went on to score three more in the third inning and three in the fourth inning.
Several players had a huge game at the plate. Staggs had four hits, including a triple, five RBIs and two runs. Cameron had three hits, including a double, four RBIs and three runs.
Romans had two hits and four RBIs. Smith had three hits and two RBIs and scored twice. Morgan had three hits, including two doubles, and scored three runs.
Borden had two hits, including a double, and scored three runs.
