Lady Tigers prepare for strong season

Red Bay returns a wealth of experience that is itching to hit the diamond and play under head coach Shane Nichols.

“We are really excited to get back on the field,” said Nichols. “We have a really talented group, and we are looking forward to the season. Most of these girls have been starting on the varsity squad since the seventh and eighth grade.”

Four core players Nichols will look to for leadership and big game experience are senior Lila Blackburn at pitcher and infield, junior Annaliese Rogers in the infield, junior Chloe Knoblock at pitcher and in the outfield and junior Emma McCollister at catcher and outfield.

“Lila is a fun kid to watch,” said Nichols. “She works hard and loves to compete. Annaliese works hard and brings a lot to our team. Chloe has pitched a lot of innings for our program, and he does a great job in centerfield. Emma is a very talented kid and plays a lot of different positions for us.

Nichols said he is looking forward to working with this year’s group.

“They have worked hard, and they are hungry to make a run this season,” he said. “I just want the girls to play hard and have fun. They are an exciting group to watch play.”
