Red Bay boys beat Phil Campbell to close season, Lady Bobcats top Lady Tigers

The Red Bay Tiger boys closed out their regular season with a 79-74 win over the Phil Campbell Bobcats Friday night.

Phil Campbell had no answer for Braden Ray, who was lights-out beyond the arch, making nine three-pointers on the night and scoring 35 points.

Luke Garrison scored seven points in the first quarter to help Phil Campbell to a 15-13 lead over Red Bay to open the game, but Ray responded with 10 points to help Red Bay take a 33-29 halftime lead.

The second half was a scoring bonanza.

Red Bay outscored Phil Campbell 23-20 in the third quarter, with Ray scoring 12 points for the Tigers and Mason Swinney sinking 11 points for the Bobcats.

Phil Campbell turned the tables in the fourth quarter, outscoring Red Bay 25-23, but it was not enough, as the Tigers held on for the win.

Jalen Vinson followed Ray, scoring 15 points for Red Bay. Carson Corum added 11. Hunter Burks dropped eight, Lane Shewbart four, Charlie Hoffman two, Landon Glover two and Gage Bays and Alex Kennedy one point each.

Garrison led Phil Campbell with 20 points, followed by Swinney with 19 points.

Bryant Hyde had 15 points. Kyle Pace and Canaan Clay scored seven points each. Cam Habada added three points, Andrew Green got two points, and Jonah Fisher had one point.

In varsity girls action, Phil Campbell topped Red Bay 43-36.

Phil Campbell led Red Bay 11-9 at the end of the first quarter and extended that lead to 20-15 at halftime. The Bobcats built a 32-24 lead by the end of the third quarter on the way to the win.

Olivia Taylor led Phil Campbell with 17 points. Madison Branch added eight points. Kenner Scott and Katie Thomas scored seven points each. Caitlynn Mills and Faith Cook scored two points each.

Destiny McCollister led Red Bay with 10 points. Lila Blackburn added eight points, and Jaycee Vinson got six points. Macy Faulkner and Kaylie Lindley scored five points each. Madeline Ledbetter scored two points.
