State extends mask mandate through Nov. 8

For the third time, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has announced an extension to the Safer at Home mask ordinance.

The ordinance to require face coverings in public will extend through Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. Ivey attributed the extension to the upcoming election Nov. 3.

“I want everyone to (vote) and to be able to do it safely,” Ivey said in a press conference.

She also added that Alabama’s number of positive cases have seen a significant decline since the mask ordinance was first introduced in July.

Ivey also amended the Safer at Home Ordinance to allow limited in-person visits for nursing home residents.
