Q&A with Tyler Weeks, PCHS baseball senior

Q: How old were you when you started playing baseball?

A: I was 4 when I started playing.

Q: Was there anyone special in your life that helped you become a great player?

A: Coach Raper and my dad have been my coaches pretty much my whole life. They have been pretty rough on me, but it helped me a lot.

Q: How do you get ready for a game?

A: I usually just showed up to the games happy that I was able to play this game.

Q: What do you like to do when you are not involved with baseball?

A: When I’m not playing ball, I enjoy hunting and fishing.

Q: What factors do you feel have influenced you the most to become the player and person you are today?

A: I’m not sure. I’ve always just showed up and played.

Q: Did you have any routines or superstitions before or in a game?

A: I didn’t really buy into the superstitions, and I never really had a routine either.

Q: What is your favorite baseball memory?

A: My favorite memory would be my first home run in 12U.

Q: What baseball player has influenced you most in the game? Why?

A: Chipper Jones was always my favorite player and still is.

Q: What is the greatest obstacle you have had to overcome in your playing career?

A: My greatest obstacle has been trying to hit a curveball. I never did get good at it.

Q: What is life after being a baseball player for you?

A: Right now, life is turkey hunting. I never did get to spend a lot of time doing it because of baseball. Now I have every day to do it.

Q: What are your thoughts on your season and career coming to an abrupt end?

A: As you could imagine, I wasn’t expecting the season to end on our first area game. Nobody was. It was tough to get over at first, but it’s just something I’ll have to deal with.
