Dream come true: Grace-lyn Paris Habada wins Phil Campbell pageant

When 16-year-old Grace-lyn Paris Habada entered the Phil Campbell High School Dream Girl pageant, she had a professed desire to “acquire self discipline while getting better acquainted with the other young ladies and making lasting memories.” Habada accomplished more than that, as she was crowned winner of this year’s event.

Habada, daughter of Richard and Kristy Habada and a sophomore at Phil Campbell, is a varsity cheerleader and involved in the Junior Civitan, SADD, FCCLA, History and ACCESS clubs at PCHS. She is also on the Yearbook Staff, played JV basketball for three years and is a member of the National Honor Society and vice president of the sophomore class.

In the course of the annual pageant, Habada was given the opportunity to answer the question, “If you could only have one wish, what would you wish for?” She expressed her desire to grow from the experience and make lasting memories.

“I think that this has definitely been a fun-filled event that has taught each one of us self discipline and has brought us closer together,” Habada said. “I can proudly say we all have the potential of representing our school to the fullest as positive role models. If chosen as Dream Girl I would be honored and would do my utmost to be that positive role model with set values, always putting God first.”

Now is her time to shine.

In addition to being crowned Dream Girl, Habada won Top 10 and prettiest hair.

Other winners include first alternate Katie Thomas, who also won for evening gown; second place Lexie Crittenden; third place Cypress Quinn, who also won best interview; and fourth place Madison Vickery, who also won most photogenic.

Other honorees include Juliana Reeves for poise and appearance, Karlee Faust for the academic award and Khloie Simpson for prettiest smile.

After high school Habada said she plans to pursue a degree in ophthalmology.
