RBHS HOSA students raise money for leukemia patients

According to the Leukemia Research Foundation, every day 170 Americans are diagnosed with leukemia, and 67 of those will ultimately lose the fight with the disease. The Red Bay High School chapter of HOSA is doing something to help the fight.

Each year HOSA supports Pennies for Leukemia as a community service project.

The project is dear to the heart of RBHS HOSA sponsor Dr. Kay Hargett. Hargett worked as a nurse for several years before becoming a teacher and has personally cared for numerous children and adults impacted by leukemia, which is devastating to any family.

RBHS HOSA has hosted Pennies for Leukemia for the past eight years. The money raised from this event will help children within the north Alabama area.

HOSA students are encouraging all RBHS and RBES students to dig deep and help with this fundraiser.

Classroom teachers have been provided collection boxes for student donations.

Anyone who would like to contribute may also bring a donation to RBHS, and it will be forwarded to Pennies for Leukemia by the RBHS HOSA chapter.
