Belgreen teams top Red Bay

Emma Dempsey scored 16 points, six in the first and six in the fourth, to help the Belgreen Bulldogs outlast the Red Bay Tigers 47-31.

Belgreen led Red Bay 15-8 at the end of the first quarter, but the Tigers cut the Bulldog lead to five by halftime, 20-15.

Belgreen extended the lead to 33-25 at the end of the third quarter.

Ansley Tate added nine for Belgreen. Autumn Bragwell and Gracie Dempsey scored eight points each. Katie Dempsey had four points, and Kaley Chandler got two points.

Lila Blackburn led Red Bay with 10 points. Macy Faulkner scored eight points, and Destiny McCollister had four points. Kylee James, Emma McCollister and Cassidy Kuykendall scored three points each.

Belgreen 70, Hackleburg 47

Gracie Dempsey and Tate scored 16 points and 14 points respectively to help Belgreen to a 70-47 win over Hackleburg.

Belgreen led 41-23 at halftime and 65-33 at the end of the third quarter putting the game away.

Autumn Bragwell and Katie Dempsey scored nine points each. Emma Dempsey had eight points, Kaley Chandler six points, Noelle Willingham four points, Dacota Green two points and Lily Blackburn two points.

BOYS

The Belgreen Bulldogs got the best of their rival Red Bay again Thursday night with a 66-58 win.

Belgreen led Red Bay 17-15 at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs put some distance between them and the Tigers in the second quarter, taking a 39-28 lead. Belgreen extended that lead to 49-35 in the third quarter.

Red Bay tried to mount a comeback in the four quarter, outscoring Belgreen 23-17, but fell short.

Will Bonner led Belgreen with 19 points, 13 of which came in the fourth quarter. Bryant Hubbert added 14 points.

Scout Bragwell had nine points, Collin Bonner seven points, Isac Willingham seven points, David Plott five points, Austin James three points and Hadden Taylor two points.

Tanner Hamilton led Red Bay with 18 points, including nine in the fourth quarter. Braden Ray added 10 points. Jalen Vinson scored all eight of his points in the fourth quarter. Clay Allison added seven points, Gage Bays five points, Lane Shewbart four points, Hunter Burks three points and Arden Hamilton three points.

Belgreen 66, Hackelburg 27

Belgreen had three players in double figures in an easy 66-27 win over the Hackleburg Panthers.

Bryant Hubbert had 17 points, Collin Bonner 15 points and Will Bonner 14 points.
