Teams prepare as area tournament sites, dates are set

The end of basketball season is in view, which means it’s post-season tournament time.

Each area is different. There are three-team, four-team and five-team areas, so no two schedules are the same.

Class 1A, Area 12 Girls at Phillips: Belgreen will play Vina in the semifinals Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. The finals will be Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.

Class 1A, Area 12 Boys at Belgreen: Vina will play Hackleburg in the quarterfinals Feb. 1 at noon. The winner will play Belgreen in semifinals Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. The finals will be Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.

Class 2A, Area 13 Girls at Addison: Red Bay will play Winston County Feb. 3 at 5 p.m. The finals will be Feb. 6 at 6 p.m.

Class 2A, Area 13 Boys at Red Bay: Red Bay will play Winston County Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. The finals will be Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.

Class 2A, Area 16 Girls at Hatton: Tharptown will play Tanner in the semifinals Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. If they win, they will advance to the finals Feb. 7.

Class 2A, Area 16 Boys at Tanner: Tharptown will play Colbert County in the quarterfinals Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. If they win, they will advance to the semifinals to play Tanner at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 6.

Class 3A, Area 14 Girls and Boys at Phil Campbell: By virtue of the three-team area, Phil Campbell’s girls and boys are automatically in the finals of the area tournament. The finals will be Feb. 6 at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Class 5A, Area 14 Girls at West Point: Russellville will play West Point in the semifinals Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.

Class 5A, Area 14 Boys at Hamilton: Russellville will play Hamilton in the semifinals Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.
