City hires three at council meeting

Three new names were added to the Russellville city payroll as the city council hired three new employees at its Jan. 21 meeting.

Noah Daugherty was hired on as a firefighter, and Jyran Darby and Brandon Suggs were both hired on as operators for the Russellville street department.

Along with hiring these three, the city council approved the resignation letter of firefighter Morgan Stidham in the Russellville Fire Department. The city council then declared a vacancy for a firefighter in the Russellville Fire Department and asked the Civil Service Board to add an additional name to the current list.

The council also approved the relocation of Russellville District 2 voting place to First Missionary Baptist Church on College Avenue.

The council declared equipment surplus in the Russellville street department and approved the mayor to enter into an agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for a project.

The Foster Grandparent Program also received the approval to submit a grant for the program.
