Free Christmas event raises money for Jagger Mills

With Christmas right around the corner, Studio X-Treme Twirl and Dance is hosting an event to allow all children the opportunity to come experience holiday cheer while also giving to a good cause.

Studio X-Treme Twirl and Dance is hosting its first-ever Christmas Expo Saturday at the Ralph C. Bishop Community Center in Russellville from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event is free to attend, and donations will be available to go directly toward Jagger’s Journey to help Russellville High School student Jagger Mills.

“We feel like as a studio the holidays are such a great time for us to give back, and what better way than to a local student?” said Studio X-Treme owner Heather Davis.

Davis said she hopes since there is no admission fee, people will be more willing to donate. All donations will go directly toward helping the Mills family. Anyone who donates will be entered in a drawing to win one of many door prizes from local vendors.

Davis said the idea came about when several parents at the studio wanted to host an event where families could shop and support local vendors while giving their children a chance to celebrate Christmas and support a good cause.

“There are some families that might not be able to afford an entrance fee or high prices to let their kids do some of these activities,” Davis said. “This way, kids have a chance to spend time with Santa, and parents have a chance to do some of their Christmas shopping.”

About 20 different vendors will be set up selling everything from baked goods to children’s hair bows. There will also be a station for children to write letters to Santa and color holiday pages.

Santa will be available for photos from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Families will need to bring their own camera for their photo with Santa.

Students from Studio X-Treme will perform twirl routines and dance routines from 10 a.m. until noon. Six group performances and 12 solo performances will round out the show.

Some of the vendors at the event will include Paparazzi Jewelry, Scentsy, Thirty-One Gifts, Color Street, Sugar Street Sweets, Dana’s Delights, Kim’s Bows, Whimzical Creations, Nell Colglazier, Sandra James, Anna Claire’s Hot Chocolate Bar, Cheryl Bennett and The Bubbly Barrel.
