Vina girls pick up fifth win versus Flame

The Vina Red Devils improved to 5-1 on the season with a 47-22 blowout win over the Shoals Christian Flame.

“We have a good bunch of girls with great attitudes,” said Vina head coach Richie Hester. “We still have a long way to go, but so far the girls seem to step up when we need them to.”

Vina put the game away with strong first and third quarters. The Red Devils led the Flame 18-5 at the end of the first quarter and 41-16 at the end of the third quarter.

Kaitlyn King led Vina with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Rayleigh Guin added 12 points, nine assists and four steals.

Kaitlyn Athey had nine points and five steals. Sarah Johnson, Sara Scott and Lexie Collum scored three points each. Abbie Petree finished the game with one point.
