Autumn Bragwell leads Lady Bulldogs past Lady Wildcats

Autumn Bragwell sank 29 points to lead the Belgreen Bulldogs past county rival Tharptown 64-48 Thursday night. Bragwell scored 21 points in the first half alone.

Tharptown sophomore Gracie Montgomery scored 15 of her game-high 20 points in the first half as well.

Both teams were deadlocked in a tight game until Belgreen started applying some full-court pressure ,allowing the Bulldogs to build a comfortable halftime lead.

Belgreen led by two points, 20-18, at the end of the first quarter.

Tharptown led 30-29 after Montgomery nailed a three from the top of the key. From there, Belgreen’s pressure defense led the Lady Bulldogs on an 11-2 run to close out the half and lead 41-32.

Belgreen extended that lead to 55-36 by the end of the third quarter.

Following Bragwell in scoring for Belgreen, Emma Dempsey and Ansley Tate scored 15 points and 13 points, respectively. Kaley Chandler added three points, Katie Dempsey two points and Noelle Willingham two points.

Following Montgomery in scoring for Tharptown, Jaiden Gaston and Shaylee Wieting scored eight points each. Adrianna Borden had six points. Seniors Brooke Daily and Aly Vandiver had two points each, along with freshman Autumn Montgomery.

Belgreen girls get win in Vina tourney

Bragwell recorded her second straight big scoring night with a 28-point performance over Marion County. The Bulldogs easily beat the Red Raiders 55-28.

Bragwell nailed five three-pointers and went seven for eight from the free throw line.

She was followed by Ansley Tate, who scored 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Belgreen led Marion County 14-11 at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs shut out the Red Raiders in the second quarter 12-0 to take a 26-11 halftime lead.

Belgreen extended that lead to 41-20 by the end of the third quarter, cruising to the win.

Katie Dempsey, Gracie Dempsey and Emma Dempsey scored four points each, while Chandler added three points.
