Club Chronicles: Franklin County Arts Council receives ASCA grant

The Franklin County Arts and Humanities Council is pleased to announce it has received a grant of $4,200 from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, the state arts agency.

Application for this grant was submitted this summer. Rep. Jamie Kiel was instrumental in assisting the Arts Council in acquiring the grant for “The Roxy’s Christmas Spectacular.”

This musical will be the Arts Council’s Christmas holiday show for 2019. It will feature local talent performing to upbeat Christmas favorites. A total of 10 shows are planned – four for schoolchildren and six for the general public.

“The Roxy’s Christmas Spectacular” will be a production adults and children will enjoy. It will begin Dec. 5 and continue through Dec. 8.

ASCA grants are awarded through a multi-faceted competitive review process. This grant signifies that the Franklin County Arts and Humanities Council provides programs of artistic quality, serves the needs of the community and demonstrates high-level administrative standards, as well as enhancing education of students at all levels.

This grant awarded by the Alabama State Council on the Arts is made possible through funding from an annual appropriation from the Alabama State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.  Representing our legislative district are Reps. Kiel and Robertson and Sen. Stutts.

This public support enables the Franklin County Arts Council to reach new audiences, foster community development, provide the highest quality programming and demonstrate the importance of arts as a component for quality of life in Alabama.
