Belgreen High School cross-country team takes on mud run

The Belgreen Bulldogs cross-country team competed in the Randolph Classic Mud Run last week. The run was based on a European-style obstacle course.

“Our team had a blast with this run,” said Belgreen coach Chuck Simmons. “It was a little change of pace from a normal cross-country run. The added element of the obstacle course was challenging but fun for the team.”

A total 287 runners competed in the event in classes 1A to 4A.

Sophomore Canaan Stough finished 22nd with a time of 20:15. Sophomore Ivan Luna was the next Bulldog to finish with a time of 21:29, landing Luna in 51st place.

Other times included: sophomore Cole King, 23:28, junior Alex Betts, 24:42, and eighth-grader Will King, 26:02.

Belgreen will compete in the Wilson Warrior Invitational Sept. 28 in Florence.
