THS coach transfers to Belgreen for volleyball, softball roles

Belgreen had to look no further than a few miles to find someone to take over the Bulldogs’ volleyball and softball programs. The Bulldogs hired Tharptown softball coach Susie Tverberg to coach both sports at Belgreen.

“We are excited to have Coach Tverberg join our program,” said new Belgreen principal Derek Ergle. “She has proven throughout her career that she knows how to win. The time and energy she puts into coaching will continue to help lead our girls in the right direction.”

Tverberg said she is extremely grateful for the opportunity. “I am excited about the new challenges that lie ahead and look forward to working with Mr. Ergle,” she said. “I will always have a love for Tharptown and an appreciation for all that I have learned throughout my years there. Belgreen has been very welcoming, and we are all anxious to get started.”

Although she has no volleyball coaching experience, Tverberg started officiating the sport six years ago, gaining a wealth of knowledge and appreciation for it.

“I completely fell in love with the sport,” said Tverberg. “The adrenaline rush you get from calling an intense match is amazing. Now, thanks to Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Ergle, I get to carry my love for volleyball to the sidelines as a coach.”

Tverberg said she will jump right into volleyball, which starts in a few weeks.

“I absolutely can’t wait to get started,” Tverberg said. “I am a naturally competitive person, and that’s what drives me to always push myself to do better. I hope to instill that competitiveness in my players and watch them grow as individuals and athletes.”

Tverberg joins a Belgreen girls’ program that has plenty of talent returning.

“Belgreen has a great group of young ladies that have been coached very well,” said Tverberg. “I hope to build on that and help them reach our goal of making it to post-season play. I am grateful and truly blessed to be a part of this program.”
