Club Chronicles: Delta Kappa Gamma members meet for leadership seminar

The Delta Kappa Gamma Alabama Leadership Seminar was held June 4-5 at the Marion Military Institute. The theme for the seminar was Traveling with Delta Kappa Gamma.

This seminar offered an opportunity to prepare leaders in the DKG society and to strengthen the bonds of friendships within DKG Alabama. Topics presented included time management tips, communication skills, Robert’s Rules of Order basics, Delta Kappa Gamma history, rapport building and leadership styles analysis. The participants were joined by the state officers, the state parliamentarian, executive secretary, webmaster and district directors.

Following a luncheon held at Lottie’s Restaurant, a pinning ceremony for new the district directors was held. Representing our district is Debby Crowell of Decatur.

The “passing of the gavel” from outgoing Alabama State President Donna Butler to incoming State President Teresa Noell was conducted. Mrs. Noell spoke of her biennium theme “Continue the Journey: Be an Inspiration.” She emphasized that all DKG members are inspirations in our chapters and to future educators, and she presented her goals for DKG Alabama.

The Franklin County DKG Alpha Upsilon Chapter is active in the state DKG organization. Our officers plan to attend the Alabama State Executive Fall Board meeting, which will be held in Montgomery Aug. 17 at the Dalraida church of Christ. This is an important meeting statewide, as information for the upcoming biennium year will be presented in workshops and committee meetings.
