RHS students earn CTE certifications

Russellville High School took the time recently to host a signing day in honor of Career and Technical Education students who earned credentials in their courses.

The purpose of the event was to show the school system’s commitment to helping students be career- and life-ready.

“We must take responsibility for making Russellville City Schools the best system in the state and give our students the opportunities to achieve and succeed in the 21st century,” said CTE Director Natalie Bendall. “When our students leave Russellville City Schools, we expect them to be life-ready, whether that means they go straight to college or straight to work. We want them to be prepared for their futures.”

Bendall said RHS students received more than 130 credentials this academic year.

In the health science program, students earned certificates as nursing assistants, patient care technicians, pharmacy technicians and medical assistants. In the human services programs of Family and Consumer Science and Cosmetology, students earned guest service professional certifications.

In the business program, many students are now Microsoft Office Specialists in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

JROTC students earned JROTC leadership credentials.

In agriscience, students earned beef quality assurance certifications, and auto tech students have received automotive service excellence certifications in brakes, auto maintenance and light repair.

Students have also completed 120 dual enrollment hours in welding from Northwest-Shoals Community College this school year.
