Phil Campbell softball picks up win

The Phil Campbell Bobcat softball team picked up its fifth win of the season with a 14-2 win over Covenant Christian last week.

Covenant Christian led 1-0 at the end of the first inning. Phil Campbell scored one in the second and two in the third to take a 3-1 lead, but Covenant Christian scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Bobcats’ lead to 3-2.

Phil Campbell extended the lead to 5-2 in the top of the sixth before putting the game away with nine runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Emma Ergle got the win for the Bobcats, pitching the complete game and striking out seven, allowing seven hits and one earned run.

Olivia Taylor had a monster day at the plate with four hits, including two doubles, two RBIs and three runs.

Kenner Scott also had a great day swinging the bat, with three hits, including a double, and four RBIs.

Jade Roberson had three RBIs. Cypress Quinn, Emily Duncan, Katie Thomas and Kaci Harris scored two runs each.
