PHOTO GALLERY: Phil Campbell triumphs in junior high softball, baseball county tourney

It has been a good year for junior high athletics at Phil Campbell High School. The Bobcats dominated the junior high Franklin County Tournament in basketball in January, and Saturday, Phil Campbell asserted its dominance in the spring sports of softball and baseball.

The Phil Campbell junior high softball team waltzed through the winners bracket with two easy wins over Belgreen, culminating in an 18-3 win in the championship game. Phil Campbell also beat Tharptown on the way to the championship.

The Phil Campbell junior high baseball team beat Vina 12-0 to win the junior high Franklin County Tournament.

The Bobcats bested Red Bay 20-0 in their first game of the tournament and then took on the winner of the East Franklin-Vina game. Vina led by five going into the final inning, and although the Rebels came back to cut the game to a one-run deficit, the Red Devils were able to hang on for the win and advance to the finals.
