G&S Upholstery opens in Red Bay

Greg Dabbs is bringing more than 30 years of upholstery experience to Red Bay through his and his wife Shelia’s new upholstery business, G&S Dabbs Upholstery.

Dabbs took his first job at an upholstery plant in Amory, Miss., in 1982. After that he opened his own business in Clearwater, Fla. He then moved back to Amory, where he opened another upholstery business that he has now given to his son.

“We wanted to open another location, and they said this would be the place to do it,” he said – “they” meaning Trevor Nichols, owner of Nichols Customs in Red Bay, and others who have supported Dabbs in this business endeavor.

Dabbs said he has worked with Nichols for years, and that is how he knew about the location where he opened his shop.

“I’ve always liked it here in Red Bay,” Dabbs added.

Dabbs said he expects some of his customer base to come from Tiffin Motorhomes. Tiffin has people who do upholstery already, but Dabbs will work with products that are not under warranty.

“It’s challenging and fun,” Dabbs said of the upholstery business. “I get things I think I can’t do or are impossible to do, but I take them on anyway just to see if I can do it. It’s something different every day.”

G&S Upholstery is located at 827 4th St. NW, in Red Bay. To contact the business call 662-791-1355.
