FCSO search ends in arrest

Aug. 1 the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office’s search for Troy Dawson, 47, came to an end.

According to Sgt. Jordan Seahorn, the FCSO and U.S. Marshals located Dawson on Highway 77 after an “extended search.”

FCSO had been pursuing Dawson since July 18, when he escaped from the Franklin County courthouse. He was at the courthouse for a mandatory court appearance for a drug test when he decided to make a run for it, according to investigators.

Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said investigators had been getting information on Dawson’s whereabouts, and he had been spotted at the Highway 77 residence, which led to his arrest.

“We were able to go and get him without any problem,” Oliver said.

Dawson was recovered around 10 a.m. at a residence in the Mountain Star community.

Dawson has been charged with two counts of escape first degree, assault second degree and resisting arrest.
