RCS cheerleaders host fundraiser
Russellville High School cheerleading Coach Stephanie Mayfield has invited everyone to go out to 43 Grill on Highway 43 in Russellville July 31 to help support the Golden Tiger cheerleaders.
“Every month we try to do a fundraiser to help them pay for their cheerleading bill,” Mayfield said.
The varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders will be working at 43 Grill from 4-8 p.m. as “celebrity waiters and waitresses.” They will be working for tips, 100 percent of which will go toward their cheer bills.
Mayfield said each cheerleader will have a tip jar with his or her name on it, and customers can leave their tips in their waiter/waitress’ jar. There will also be a tip jar for those who wish to donate to the cause in general, and Mayfield said the squad will split that money evenly among the team members.
“This gives them a way to work for it rather than just depending on their parents to write a check,” Mayfield said.
This is the first time the cheerleaders will be starring as “celebrity waiters and waitresses,” but Mayfield said she is excited for the fundraiser.
“It helps the cheerleaders, but it also encourages the community to buy local and support local businesses,” Mayfield said.
A total 14 varsity cheerleaders plus Champ (Jax Greenhill) and 10 junior varsity cheerleaders will be working in two shifts July 31.
