See Franklin County with fresh eyes
July is a busy month for us here because we release not one but two special publications during this month. In addition to Franklin Living, which came out last week – and if you haven’t given it a read yet, you definitely should! – we will also publish A Place to Grow during July.
We’re working on A Place to Grow right now, which means I have been bebopping all across Franklin collecting information and photographs of our wonderful little corner of Alabama. With the help of city and county officials, as well as school representatives, business owners and other community figures, A Place to Grow will once again highlight all the wonderful amenities and resources Franklin County has to offer newcomers and visitors – as well as longtime permanent residents.
The things about putting together a publication like this is that it reminds you of everything that is available right here at home, and that has been such a pleasure.
It’s helped me see Franklin County with fresh eyes.
When we see the same people and places each day, we sometimes forget to appreciation them. We become so accustomed to the amazing things that surround us, we become blind to them.
This can be especially true over the summer, when we’re traveling to exotic places, seeing new sights and having new experiences. The flash and glitz of the unfamiliar can make us sigh with envy and wish we could always live in “exciting” places, rather the place we call home.
But at the end of the day, the abundance we enjoy in Franklin and the many home comforts that characterize our county can’t be beat.
When was the last time you took a slow stroll through City Lake Park? Or let your kids splash into the fun park in Red Bay?
When was the last time you went shopping in a local boutique or caught a show at the Roxy, the Weatherford Centre or the RCS Auditorium?
How long has it been since you stopped to savor your favorite meal at a local restaurant?
The fact is, we’re pretty fortunate here, to have so many wonderful assets to enjoy. Whether you want to brave the great outdoors, shop til you drop, tempt your taste buds or spend some time with friendly folks, you don’t have to go far – it’s all right here.
You just have to open your eyes.
