Council rings in new year with first meeting
The first Russellville City Council meeting of 2018 targeted a short agenda, which Mayor David Grissom preceded with a few announcements.
Grissom started off by asking the council to keep Councilman David Palmer in their thoughts and prayers while he is currently dealing with a few health issues. Then he announced a civil service board meeting Jan. 11 and requested that any councilmember with any policy and procedure change to turn those in by Jan. 11.
The council then:
- approved the American Municipal Insurance Corporation renewal policy for three years.
- accepted the resignation letter of Russellville Police Department officer Skyler Deaton.
- declared a vacancy for patrol officer in the RPD and asked the Civil Service Board to add an additional name to the current list.
- approved the request from Relay for Life to have the rental fee waived at the A.W. Todd Centre for Jan. 16.
