Charles Lewis Murray

Charles Lewis Murray, age 80, passed away Aug. 27 at his residence.

Charles was born Nov. 8, 1936, in Franklin County. He married the love of his life, Thelma Robinette, Aug. 5, 1956, and they shared 62 years together. He worked over 40 years with Ballew & Roberts Construction as an operating engineer and was a member of 320 Operating Engineers Local. He was a simple man who never met a stranger. He especially loved and enjoyed his grandchildren.

His visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 29 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 30 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jeremy Seal officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lucille (Britnell) Murray; brothers, Robert Murray and Bob Murray; sisters, Betty Jo Lowery, Dorothy Malone, Paulette Craig, Judy Hines and Brenda Parker; grandchildren, Haylie Murray and Callie Brooke Murray; and great-grandchild, Aubry Calhoun.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Thelma Murray; children, Dianne Mims and husband Jim, Rickey Murray and wife Carol, David Murray and wife Jean, Mark Murray and wife LeAnne, Micheal Murray and wife Kathryn and Chris Murray; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers will be Dustin Murray, Ryan Murray, Matthew Murray, Jaceton Murray, Grayson Murray, Landon McClellan and Tim Malone.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kindred Home Health and to our special nurse, Misty Berryman for your love and care of our family.
