Speaking against elder abuse

Thousands of adults who have disabilities are abused, neglected and exploited in Alabama each year. To help raise awareness, communities across the nation and across the world unite annually in June to observe World Elder Abuse Awareness Month – including Franklin County DHR Adult Protective Services. APS service worker Lynne Graves and others with APS gathered Friday to read a proclamation in honor of the day, signed by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, and mark the occasion with a balloon release. Among those pictured are Graves, APS service worker Mandy Morrow, adult supervisor Leah Yocum, Colbert DHR adult service workers, Justin Pullum, supervisor, and Cassie Martin, Mary Gates from Scope 310 Authority and several Franklin county DHR staff.
