Tharptown picks up two wins on Senior Night

For the Tharptown Wildcats’ two seniors, Senior Night couldn’t have gone much better. The Lady Wildcats easily dispatched the Cherokee Indians in two games, 15-0 and 13-2. Seniors Kaylee Bain and Klaudia Harris had stellar nights at the plate, carrying their team to victory as they prepared to host the area tournament this week.

Bain went 4-for-4 and scored three runs in game one, and Harris went 4-for-4 and scored four runs in game two.

Tharptown 13, Cherokee 2

Leading 3-2 through the third inning, the Tharptown Wildcats broke through in the fourth with five runs and went on to wallop the Cherokee Indians 13-2. Tharptown outhit Cherokee 11-2 in the game.

Kaylee Bain had a four-hit game, including two doubles, scoring three times and knocking in one run. Shaylee Wieting and Harris scored three runs each as well. Cara Ergle, Taylor Cameron, Brooke Daily and Ameliah Dawson all scored one run each. Bain, Wieting and Cameron all had multiple hits. Cara Ergle and Brooke Daily had two RBIs each. Bain, Wieting, Harris, Cameron and Leslie Staggs all had an RBI in the game.

Cameron was the winning pitcher, going six innings, allowing only two hits and two runs and striking out nine.

Tharptown 15, Cherokee 0

Tharptown scored ten runs in the first inning on the way to an easy 15-0 blowout win over the Cherokee Indians.

Harris went 4-for-4 with an RBI and scored four runs to lead the way for Tharptown. Bain was walked four times and scored two runs.

Olivia Ergle went 3-for-4, including two doubles, with three RBIs and scored two runs. Dawson and Aly Vandiver both had two RBIs. Cara Ergle and Leslie Staggs also batted runners in. Weiting and Dawson both scored two runs. Cara Ergle, Madison Vandiver and Staggs scored one run each.

Olivia Ergle got the win, pitching four innings, allowing only two hits and striking out six batters.

Bain and Weiting both scored on a double by Harris to start the scoring barrage in the first inning. Weiting and Harris would score twice in the first inning. Olivia Ergle, Madison Vandiver and Dawson all scored in the first inning.

Harris, Ergle and Dawson all scored in the bottom of the third inning to give Tharptown a 13-0 lead.

Harris and Olivia Ergle scored in the final inning to put the game away.
