Pre-K celebrates community

ABC’s and 123’s are, naturally, some of the top subjects of importance for Pre-K students. But Phil Campbell Elementary Pre-K teacher Heather Fowler wanted her students to learn a little more than just the basics. She wanted to teach them about community.

Students in PCES Pre-K were asked to make something to celebrate their community – a person or place – with the help of their parents. Projects including places like the Chevron gas station and the Piggly Wiggly, people like the mail carrier an even icons like the water tower in Memorial Park.

Fowler pointed out that, particularly ever since the 2011 tornado, the bonds of community are strong in Phil Campbell. She wanted her students to be a part of it.
