Russellville appoints street superintendent

At its regularly-scheduled meeting Monday, the Russellville City Council wrapped up a short agenda quickly that included the appointment of a temporary street superintendent and the hiring of two sergeants in the Russellville Police Department.

Mayor David Grissom said street super Roy Price, who has been over the street department for about nine years but has been a city employee for 25, had decided to retire.

“He retired effective Jan. 1,” Grissom said. The city appointed Shannon Wilson to fill the temporary role.

Grissom said the council has about six months to declare the vacancy and hire for full time.

In the police department, Chief Chris Hargett recommended, and the city voted to hire, Jessica Clements and Craig Bullion as sergeants. Hargett said Clements and Bullion are already employed with the PD and will fill vacancies for sergeant that have been vacant about two months.

The council also voted to: renew the line of credit with CB&S Banks; revise the police reserve roster; accept the $9K Taser grants for the RPD; and waive A.W. Todd Centre fees for the Phil Campbell High baseball team and Southside Baptist Church Relay for Life Team.
