RCS approves stadium reno
With the Russellville High School football field sporting shiny new turf, the time has come for other stadium improvements.
The Russellville City Schools Board of Education voted Dec. 15 to approve the low bid of $259,800 from H&N Construction for a slate of renovations to Golden Tiger Stadium.
“This is the project that was originally planned to go along w the turf/track renovation back in the spring/summer,” Superintendent Heath Grimes said. “However, we were required to get an architect involved and state building commission approval. This delayed the project considerably.”
The project includes a renovation to the Marching Hundred concession stand at the end of the stadium at field level,” Grimes said. “It will get a new roof, new roll up doors and some interior improvements for efficiency for the workers.” It also includes bricking the visitor side wall to match the rest of the stadium and laying new asphalt and correcting some safety issues on the visitors’ side near the wheelchair ramp.
Press box restoration is also in the plans. “Some of the siding is in bad shape and the trim needs some work,” Grimes said.
The board also:
- Approved trip requests.
- Approved school resource officer contracts with Donald Aycock and Cary Hitt.
- Approved facility use requests.
- Took action on personnel items, including temporary, part-time as needed employment for the 21st CCLC program for Kim Hood, Monica Moon, Melissa Greenhill, Paige Hargett and Leanne James.
The next RCS board meeting will be Jan. 26 at 3:30 p.m.
