A Russellville man is in the Franklin County jail following an incident of child abuse Thursday.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Troy Lamar Darby, 33, and charged him with child abuse after a 3-year-old boy was found to have been struck across the face and in other areas of his body at a residence in Tharptown. Darby was reportedly baby-sitting the little boy.

FCSO deputies took in Darby at Campbell Arms Apartments in Phil Campbell, where investigators said he attempted to elude arrest by trying to climb out the window of the second-floor apartment. In addition to child abuse, the suspect was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and attempting to elude.

Darby’s bond was set at $10K.
