Vina man charged with burglary, theft

Finding an alleged burglar is a lot easier when his burglary is caught on a trail camera.

Channing Keith Haithcock, 24, of Vina is in the Franklin County Jail after a home burglary Thanksgiving Day and a car theft they day before.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office investigators stated that when Vina homeowner came home to find items, including a T.V., stolen, they checked a trail camera that on their property to see if they could identify a suspect. Haithcock was identified and charged with theft of property first degree, theft of property second degree, receiving stolen property first degree, criminal mischief third degree and burglary second degree.

The FCSO investigation was carried out in cooperation with the Red Bay Police Department. RBPD investigator Sgt. Rodney Belue said Haithcock was the suspect in a car theft Wednesday.

“He had broken into the impound lot at Red Bay Body Shop and took that vehicle,” – a 2013 Honda Accent, Belue explained. Haithcock then allegedly wrecked the vehicle in Vina.

Haithcock is currently in the Franklin County Jail. FCSO investigators said the stolen property was recovered from his residence in Vina.
