Man jailed after resisting arrest

A Florence man is in jail after assaulting two law enforcement officers while they were trying to arrest him Monday, according to authorities.

Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said Devonte Marquis Thompson, 24, 1050 E. Limestone St., Florence, was arrested after fighting with two deputies who were attempting to make an arrest, at a residence at Town and Country Trailer Park on Highway 24, just outside of Russellville.

He is charged with driving while under the influence, obstructing justice by giving false ID, tampering with physical evidence, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree assault of a police officer and two counts of resisting arrest.
