A. Odis Hicks

A. Odis Hicks, 90, Tharptown, passed away Nov. 5 at UAB Hospital.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years, Madelene (Mayfield) Hicks; his only child, David Hicks; his only grandchild, K. LeeAnn Hicks; one brother, Walter Hicks and wife Faye; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Emmett, Wallace, George and Thomas Hicks; and three sisters, Reba Mitchell, Mabel Bradford and Pearl Jeffreys.

Odis was born March 24, 1926, to Arthur and Stasha Ann Hicks in Lawrence County.

In his primitive years, he worked as a crane operator for Reynolds Metals Company for 26 years. He was a proud member of IBEW local number 558.

Odis had a passion for working on and selling cars. He loved to engage in car and political talk with anyone he came in contact with.

Visitation will be Nov. 8 from noon until 2:30 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Anthony Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Tharptown Cemetery.
