Sept. 10, the Phil Campbell Fishing Team was able to kick off the 2016-2017 year with an overall team win.

Phil Campbell is now in its second year as the host of the BCDA High School Tournament Trail. This trail gives schools in the area that have fishing teams the opportunity to fish the local BCDA Lakes. The first tournament was held Sept. 10 on Little Bear. Six schools were represented: Phil Campbell, Belgreen, Russellville, Waterloo, Muscle Shoals and Bear Creek.

Phil Campbell was able come away with the Overall Team Award with the team’s top three weights being 15.74 lbs. The first place boat was Dakota Mansell and Isaac Cummings (Phil Campbell) with 6.01 pounds. Second place boat was Levi Rodgers and Joshua Burcham (Phil Campbell) with 5.15 pounds, and third place boat was Trey Willingham and Carson Cox (Belgreen) with 4.94 pounds. Mansell and Cummings also had the Big Fish of 3.77 pounds.
