Franklin, Abston to serve in Vina

Mayor DW Franklin said this election will be his last. The people of Vina voted him back into office Tuesday for a fifth term.

“I was glad the people re-elected me,” he said. “This will be the last time I will ever run. I just try to finish things I started … This will make five terms. I think that’s about enough.” He thanked the voters for their support. “I will try to do a good job for them.”

Franklin collected 55 votes to Marshall Rogers’ 47.

In the only contest council race, Lula Abston will serve the city, earning 57 votes to Vanessa Moomaw’s 39.
